Liz Primeau’s front-yard garden in Applewood Acres is not only eye-catching, it’s biodiverse, attracting bees, butterflies and birds to its variety of plants. She tells the story of how she transformed her front yard from a stretch of barren lawn into an environmentally friendly garden, converting her grass-loving neighbours in the process, and shows examples of many other styles of front-yard gardens from coast to coast.

Liz Primeau, a long-time gardener, and an editor and writer with magazines such as Chatelaine, Toronto Like and Ontario Living was founding editor of Canadian Gardening magazine in 1990 and host of HGTV’s Canadian Gardening program for three years in the late 90’s. She also organized the Applewood Garden Club in 1999, with 12 members. She lived in Mississauga most of her life, since 1979 in Applewood Acres.
